You are what your deep, driving desire is.
As your desire is, so is your will.
As your will is, so is your deed.
As your deed is, so is your destiny.
~Brihadaranyaka Upanishad IV.4.5
~
Like two golden birds perched on the selfsame tree, intimate friends, the ego and the Self dwell in the same body. The former eats the sweet and sour fruits of the tree of life, while the latter looks on in detachment.

The wonderful passage from the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad reminds me of our conversation a week ago about intentions and actions.
Our deep, driving desires results in deeds, which in turn result in our future circumstances.
Every action matters. Thanks for this post, Molly!
P.S. If it’s OK, I might use the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad passage on Ox Herding.

Thanks for sharing this. There is something about both passages that just feels right and solid.
